Trump Casino for Rhode Island?

Donald Trump, the US business tycoon, is planning to open a casino on Rhode Island.

The billionaire’s company Trump Entertainment Resorts will join with local developer David Nunes for the project.

The proposed casino site is a 100-acre plot in Johnston, Rhode Island, and will also feature a hotel and a 5,000 square foot entertainment centre.

Local councillor, Ernest Pitochelli, said the casino would be a $1 billion investment with 30,000 square feet of retail space and generate as much as $900 million in annual revenue, reports the Providence Journal.

The reality TV star’s attempt to build a casino in the area follows years of unsuccessful attempts by Harrah to build a $650 million hotel and casino in the location.
