It may come as a surprise for many to learn that the smooth-talking, cool-as-a-cucumber hero James Bond cannot in fact play poker.

In actual fact, it is actor Daniel Craig, who is set to play the new 007 in his first Bond film Casino Royale, who needs to brush up on his card skills.

As the new film essentially focuses on gambling and card tricks it may be time that the actor took some lessons.

All is not lost though, as film producers have flown in a poker expert from Berlin in Germany to give the star a few tips.

According to sources from the Sun newspaper there is an essential part in the film that requires bond to show off his cool card skills.

“Daniel could not play cards – it was so funny. It was frustratingly ridiculous how long it took to teach the cast how to play or behave at a poker table,” the newspaper reports.

Casino Royale will be released on October 19th.
