College Poker Championship proves popular
Lou Krieger, poker writer and host of the College Poker Championships, has been explaining its impact on the industry.
According to him there have already been more than 33,000 students who have either enrolled or played in a college tournament this year.
The events have proved popular as players are not required to stake real money but all winners do receive a cash sum.
Krieger – a former winner himself – said the championships are popular as they are “poker on training wheels” and sustain new players’ interest.
The championship’s most recent winner, Chad Flood, told WMCTV about his win.
He said: “I was just kind of shocked – it took a while for it to actually set in.
