Online poker world champs a month away
With the World Series of Poker main event having finished earlier this month, September’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is the next big occasion on the calendar.
The $10 million, 18-tournament event is expected to attract players from over 80 countries from September 18th.
The 16-day event will offer a variety of tournaments for enthusiasts to enter from a $200 buy-in Seven-Card Stud Low tournament on the first day to a $2,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em game on October 1st that promises a top prize of $3 million.
A HORSE game, which involves the rotation of five different forms of poker, is also anticipated to attract some big names.
Team PokerStars spokesman Barry Greenstein commented: “Prestigious tournaments such as the PokerStars.com WCOOP are the ultimate way to improve your game and experience the excitement of big tournament play.
“The WCOOP is a popular event with the established stars of online poker, and the HORSE tournament is bound to attract the elite.”
It is the fifth annual WCOOP event and looks set to improve upon the record figures of last year, when 19,727 players played for $12,783,900.
