PPA organizes ‘phone march’ to Senate

The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has organized a phone march to Capitol Hill as a statement over the potential banning of internet gambling, according to reports.

By sending a message to the US Senate, the grass roots poker organization hopes to stop the bill – passed in the House in July – which hampers poker players from playing online.

All PPA members – currently numbering more than 100,000 – were sent an email requesting they call their senators and voice their opinion on HR 4411 – the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, according to Casino City Times.

The PPA will open a phone number which will transfer callers to their state senator after being advised to recount details including the fact there are 70 million Americans playing poker, 23 million of whom do so online.

Michael Bolcerek, PPA president, said: “The threat to poker is real. We need everyone possible to make their voice heard on September 12th.”
